Susan Gore Gardner

Susan Gore Gardner has been creating affectionate landscapes of the South and portraits of its wildlife for over 30 years.  A life-long love of drawing became the passion of a lifetime during college days when Susan found her calling as a professional artist.  Upon graduation Susan embarked on a career of exhibiting her artwork in art festivals and gallery exhibits throughout the Southeast, initially as a wildlife artist.  In 1990 Susan encountered the intriguing medium of pastels, and color-filled landscapes and unique still lifes created with pastels became her primary method of self-expression.  The remarkable opportunity arose to study privately with nationally known painter Robert Meredith who helped her refine her artistic vision and whose influence led to an evolution in style and subject matter.  Today Susan is working in her private studio in Bremen, Georgia on her small horse farm The Shire (named in honor of J.R.R. Tolkien's literary masterpiece 'The Hobbit').

An on-going seriesof landscapes continue to present the artist with intriguing challenges and a fond theme: The South.  The artist has sought to preserve on paper the charming history of the South including Savannah, Carrollton and Austell.   Travels to Arizona, Pennsylvania, Kansas and painting trips to the southern counties of Ireland, England's south & Midlands, and southwestern France provide rich sources of inspiration that continue to produce strong drawings and paintings.  Music, always a powerful source of encouragement and inspiration, has led to the creation of a series of dynamic, colorful musician portraits.

Susan Gore Gardner's artwork has been selected for inclusion in the juried exhibits of the Southeastern Pastel Society and other Georgia fine art exhibitions at the Quinlan Art Center in Gainesville, the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, Carrollton Cultural Art Center, Chateau Elan Gallery, King Plow Art Center in Atlanta, the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art in Marietta, ART Station in Stone Mountain and the Mable House Art Center.  The artist has been chosen to participate in three alumni exhibits at her alma mater Kennesaw State University and she has had 7 solo exhibitions in the southeast.

THE ARTIST'S STATEMENT: "In sharing my artwork with you, I want to draw your attention to the incredible world God has created.  Consider the joy of the birds in the air, the small majesty of a cat, and the breathtaking beauty of the countryside here in the southern states as well as in Ireland, France and my beloved England.  My artwork will reveal to you those things that lie closest to my heart: my heritage, my appreciation of nature & my belief that all we behold is evidence of a magnificent Creator."
